Where Wanderlog is stronger
- Platforms. Web, iOS and Android (Google Play). PlanToTrip has no Android or web version.
- Collaboration on accounts. Invite friends, collaborate in real time, and set edit or view permissions per person (App Store listing). An account per collaborator is the price of that model, and it also lets one person work from a laptop.
- Guides as lists. Users publish travel guides that others can copy into a trip.
- Email import. Reservations can be imported by forwarding confirmation emails or connecting Gmail.
Where PlanToTrip is stronger
- No account. No login or email, even when planning together. Trips live on the phone unless shared.
- Schengen 90/180 counter. Planned trips count themselves, days can be imported from photo tags on the device, and a forward planner flags a trip that would go over before you book.
- Documents stay on the phone. A scanned ticket or voucher is sent once for field extraction and never stored; confirmation numbers, prices and passenger names are not part of a shared trip.
- iPhone-native. Voice input in every chat, push reminders, a native iPad layout, and offline browsing and editing of the plan.
Price, with the caveats
Wanderlog's App Store listing shows several Pro tiers: annual plans at $31.99, $39.99, $49.99 and $59.99 and monthly plans at $5.99 and $16.99 (in-app purchases). Which one you see depends on region and promotions; its own pricing page could not be read for this comparison because it renders in the browser. PlanToTrip is $9.99 a month or $59.99 a year with a 3-day free trial on both, or a one-time $7.99 Trip Pass for one trip (llms.txt). The first trip is generated and previewed free.
Who should pick which
Pick Wanderlog if anyone in the group is on Android, if you plan from a laptop, or if you want a shared guide library. Pick PlanToTrip if you are on iPhone, do not want an account, need the Schengen counter, or want tickets and passports organized without uploading them. Many travelers will not need to choose: a Schengen counter is a reason to keep PlanToTrip even if the group's shared plan lives elsewhere.
